What's in a Name?

The word "whisky" comes from the Gaelic uisge beatha (pronounced ooshky-bay) meaning 'water of life', with even earlier roots in the Old Irish words uisce and beothu, from around 900 AD.

Evolving from the original uisge (ooshky) the word was anglicized over time to uiskie in 1618, to whiskie in 1715, to usky in 1736, and finally to whisky in 1746.

"Whiskey is by far the most popular of all remedies that won't cure a cold."
Jerry Vale

"If I cannot drink Bourbon and smoke cigars in Heaven than I shall not go."
Mark Twain

SERVICES:  Fundraising Events

Raising funds for a charitable organization is particularly challenging in today's economic climate, requiring marketing campaigns to be efficient and unique in order to be successful.

Whisky drinkers have a higher then average disposable income and aren't afraid to spend it on a night of spectacular Scotch, Bourbon or Irish Whiskey, making them your perfect target market.

By selling tickets to a whiskey tasting dinner by Vanek Whiskey Events, you will be adding a unique and profitable vehicle to your fundraising mix, one that will also help develop the public profile of your organization in a manner that other fundraising activities can't touch.

Don't have the time or space for a formal whiskey tasting, why not include a whiskey bar instead?

The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) allows charities to earn revenue through the sale of beverage alcohol once they have received a Fundraising Special Occasion Permit.  Charities are even permitted to accept alcohol donations towards such an event, either directly from a distillery, or from their provincial liquor agent.  We can help you to source as much of your event's whisky through donation as possible, making for an even more profitable function.

Vanek Whiskey Events takes risk and participant safety very seriously.  Please see our Risk Management Strategy for more details.
